How to manage your time effectively
1. Schedule Your Day
The first step to managing your time effectively is scheduling your day. This means that you need to know what tasks are going to take priority over others. You can use this information to plan out how you want to spend your days. If you have a job where you work from 9-5, then you should schedule yourself accordingly. If you don’t have a set schedule, then you may find yourself wasting time doing things that aren’t necessary.
2. Prioritize Tasks
Once you have scheduled your day, you need to prioritize your tasks. This means that you should only focus on the most important task at hand. When you start working on something, make sure that you finish it before moving onto the next thing. This way, you won’t waste any time and you will be able to get everything done efficiently.
3. Set Goals
Setting goals is another great way to manage your time effectively. By setting goals, you will be able to figure out exactly what you want to accomplish each day. Make sure that these goals are realistic though, otherwise you could end up feeling frustrated if they are not met.

You need to know what has the highest priority before you can begin working on anything else. Once you’ve identified the top priorities, then you can move onto the second step.

Once you’ve prioritized your tasks, you need to organize them into a schedule. If you don’t have a schedule, then you are not organized. You need to know where you are going to spend your time and how long each task will take. Make sure that you allocate enough time for each task.

Deadlines are extremely important to the success of your project. They allow you to determine whether or not you completed a task on time. If you miss deadlines, then you will lose points towards your overall score.

Write down everything that you would like to do in the future and then prioritize these tasks according to their importance to you.

Once you have set your goals, look at each task and decide where you should focus your efforts. If you spend time doing something that does not contribute to achieving your goal, then you’re just wasting time. Make sure that you allocate enough time for each task.

It may sound obvious but it’s important to plan your day ahead of time. When you know exactly what needs to get done, you can make sure that you don’t waste any time. By scheduling activities into specific times throughout the day, you can ensure that you don’ t miss anything.
1. Make a schedule for yourself
It's easy to assume that if we have free time, then we can just do whatever we want. But this isn't necessarily true. If you make a schedule for yourself, then you are much more likely to follow through with what you have committed to doing. A schedule helps you avoid being distracted by other things around you (like social media). Schedules allow us to work towards our goals without getting caught up in the moment.
2. Be realistic about your commitments
We often overestimate how much time we have to get certain tasks done. This is especially true for people who are self-employed. We think we have extra hours to spend on something and end up feeling overwhelmed because we didn't plan ahead. Once you start working on projects, set deadlines for completion. Don't let yourself fall behind!
3. Learn to say no
This may seem like a hard thing to do, but saying no to others is actually a great way to stay organized. You don't need to explain yourself - simply tell them you're too busy. By saying no, you'll feel better knowing you've accomplished something and you won't feel guilty.
1. Use a calendar system (Google Calendar) - This is my go-to method for managing my time. I can organize everything from meetings to events to work projects into this calendar. I can even set reminders about things like due dates for assignments. There are many other calendars that can do similar types of tasks, but Google Calendars are free and easy to use. You can create multiple calendars if you wish, each having their own color coding scheme.
2. Stick to a schedule - If you have a job where you need to be at specific times, then you should try to stick to that schedule. Schedules are helpful because they force us to plan ahead and make sure we don’t overbook ourselves. They help keep our lives organized and prevent us from being overwhelmed. So if you have a 9am meeting, try to get to bed earlier than usual. Or if you want to stay up later, maybe sleep in a bit.
3. Write down what you want to accomplish - When you have a goal, write it down on paper. Sometimes just writing it down helps you remember it better. Then, once you have accomplished some goals, cross them off and move onto the next ones. By doing this, you will slowly build momentum towards reaching your ultimate goal.
4. Prioritize - Make a list of priorities for yourself. What is most important? How much time do you spend socializing versus working? Do you prefer to read books or watch TV shows? Once you have a clear understanding of how you spend your time, you can start to prioritize accordingly.
5. Get enough rest - Sleep is arguably the most underrated factor in productivity. Even though we may not realize it, often times we are completely exhausted after a long day of work. And yet, often times, we feel like we can handle more work. We think that if we push through, we’ll reach the finish line eventually. However, the reality is that when we don’t sleep enough, we end up getting sicker, less productive, and overall less effective.
6. Be honest with yourself - Being honest with yourself is really important. If you know you aren't going to be able to meet a deadline, tell someone! Don't let guilt and stress hold you back from accomplishing something great.
1. Schedule a routine. Your schedule should be planned out in advance and be consistent. You can have a daily schedule if that works better for you or just plan out what needs to get done each day. Make sure you stick to this schedule and don't change it unless absolutely necessary.
2. Organize your tasks. When you start getting overwhelmed about how much work you need to do, organize your tasks into categories like personal, business, family, etc. This way you can focus on the task at hand instead of trying to remember everything you need to do.
3. Set priorities. If you are constantly getting distracted by things around you, set aside some time to focus on the most important thing first. If you make yourself do something small first, then you'll feel accomplished and won't want to stop until you finish.
4. Take breaks. Don't forget to take regular breaks throughout the day. Get up from your desk once in awhile and walk around the office to clear your head.
5. Keep track of commitments. Write down when you promise to do something and then check back regularly to ensure that you haven't forgotten any obligations.
6. Give yourself rewards. No matter how hard you've worked, it's not always going to be easy. Sometimes you're just going to end up working longer than expected because you're excited about what you're doing. So celebrate those times! Treat yourself to something nice and reward yourself for sticking to your schedule.
1. Set goals that are achievable, but challenging.
Set high expectations for yourself, which helps you stay motivated through the hard times. If you set a goal to read 10 books this year, don't let yourself get discouraged if you only finish four! Instead, try setting a goal of reading 20 books this year, and feel good about finishing 10 of those. You can always aim higher or lower, but just keep in mind that it's okay to not reach your full potential.
2. Focus on quality over quantity.
It's easy to say you want to spend less money on food, but unless you're cutting back on groceries, you could be spending thousands each month on coffee alone. Take advantage of free entertainment like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, etc., and make some trade offs to save some cash (like skipping out on lattes).
3. Create a plan.
Write down everything you need to do today, tomorrow, and in two weeks. This way, you'll know what comes first without having to worry about getting too distracted. Also, write down any obstacles you may encounter along the way. If you have trouble sleeping at night, maybe try going for a walk before bedtime instead of watching TV. Or maybe you can't afford to eat out every day, but you absolutely love sushi -- try eating takeout for a week straight! Whatever it is, create a schedule and stick to it.
